Woodbury is an East Metro suburb of 68,000 residents.  The city is beautiful and booming with fun things to do!

woodburyFor our Woodbury Adventure we made our first stop at Madison’s place, the East Metro’s first fully accessible playground. Madison’s place is definitely a special place. We went for the grand opening and the energy and excitement for this playground was palpable. The play equipment is unique, and designed for children of all abilities. Madison’s place is part of the Bielenberg Sports Center. There is a small splash pad adjacent to the playground and lots of different sporting fields. There is plenty of easy parking.

Our next stop was for lunch. We decided to go big for lunch and went to Osaka Hibachi Grill. Osaka offers sushi and my kids favorite Hibatchi Grill. It’s a small chain with locations in Woodbury, Bloomington, Apple Valley, Eden Prairie and Coon Rapids. If you have never eaten at a hibachi grill (aka Japanese Steakhouse) it is quite the experience! Your food is creatively cooked on a grill right in from of you. There’s flames, entertain, and delicious food – what a great dining experience!

Next up was Wooddale Family Fun Zone, an indoor roller rink that also offers an indoor playground and an arcade. The indoor playground is an extra charge so we did not explore that. The roller rink was everything you could expect in a roller skating adventure. Neon lights, disc balls and loud pop music! One feature Wooddale offers that we really like is the “practice area” that is separate from the main skating rink.

While in Woodbury, here are some more kid-friendly adventure ideas:

Beyond businesses, there are many local events year-round. A popular summer event named Woodbury Days is held in Ojibway Park each year. Woodbury Days includes a parade, carnival, live music, fireworks, and many booths for the city’s shops, churches, and services. Woodbury Days is also known for its Taste of Woodbury tent located in the parking lot behind Woodbury High School and overlooking the Ojibway Park Band Shell. (Source Wikipedia)

Thinking of moving?
