Earth Day April 22, 2017 Events

Hatch Day/Earth Day (National Eagle Center), Wabasha MN
Eagles in our area typically hatch around the third week of April. Since we’re not sure exactly when our eagle ambassadors hatched, we use April 22nd, or Earth Day, as our eagles’ hatch day. On that day, they each get a year older and we celebrate with special enrichment activities.

Join us at Wargo Nature Center for a FREE funfilled family Earth Day celebration complete with a climbing wall and light refreshments. Learn about Wargo’s unique offerings and activities, make your own earth art project to take home, listen to live music, explore the trails, and enjoy the lovely spring weather! Also, be sure to visit the Earth Day Fair, where local organizations will provide information and businesses will showcase earth-friendly products

Earth Day River Cleanup (Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park), Coon Rapids MN
Clean up the Mississippi and learn green tips for home.

Earth Day: Story Stroll, Service Projects and Native Plant Sale (Richardson Nature Center) Bloomington MN
Hike on a Story Stroll with Hennepin County Libraries and join volunteers removing invasive plants. Purchase nursery-grown native plants and get tips from Landscape Alternatives on how to attract pollinators and wildlife to your yard

Earth Day Story Time Trolley, Stillwater MN
A special Story Time Trolley to celebrate Earth Day! Valley Bookseller favorite, Sara Wagner, will be our guest storyteller. This event for families includes a short ride on the trolley with an author or storyteller!

Global Youth Service Day (Various Three Rivers Park Locations)

  • Zero Waste Educator: Help make Allina Health Trail Mix Race Minnesota a zero waste event. Learn what zero waste means and educate racers and spectators on proper waste sorting.
  • Spring Spruce Ups: Help prepare trails, buildings, gardens, or other special projects for spring.
  • Independent Projects: Help make the parks beautiful by cleaning up what winter left behind.

Earth Day Cleanup, (MultipleParks) Minneapolis MN
The goal of Earth Day Cleanup is to provide a volunteer experience and environmental education to Minneapolis residents and park users. This annual event involves cleaning Minneapolis parks, neighborhoods, watersheds and water bodies

Earth Fest, Mountain Iron MN
Earth Fest 2017 “Living Well on a Changing Planet” will focus on the connections between personal, community and ecological wellness.  Featuring Exhibits, local marketplace, presentations, demonstrations, family activities, local food, live music and more!
