Making Chinese Dumplings

Meals are one of the most important things in all the cultures, and China is the same. We are trying to make the most traditional chinese food — the dumplings or Jiaozi in Chinese.

The idea of putting meat inside of a wrap or stuffed pasta is universal. You can see so many dumplings in different cultures. There are ravioli, tortellini, mezzaluna, samosa, to name a few. Consequently, there are millions of ways of making dumplings, and we can debate forever which way is better than the others. Historically, Chinese dumplings are one of the oldest forms of dumpling going back 1800 years to the Han Dynasty. Passed down for centuries, dumpling wrapping is an art form. Having no intention to scare away the kids with complicated dumpling wrapping skills, we included a kid-friendly method for you to try.

Cooking Your Dumplings

Begin by bring a large pot of water to a boiling, add a small pinch of salt. Then cook the dumplings in batches. Slightly move the dumplings with a large ladle or scoop so they will not sticky to the bottom. Then the water begins to boil again, add around 1/4 cup of cold water. Repeat once.
