Disclaimer: I received a complimentary party at KaZoom in exchange for my time sharing my honest experience. All thoughts are my own.
Bouncy houses are a fun and trendy way to celebrate birthdays… however, if you don’t have a summer birthday or a decent sized yard then this may not work for your child. Fortunately, thanks to KaZoom Playcenter down in Shakopee, you can have not just one but SIX large indoor inflatables, including an obstacle course and two slides. The space has 5,300 square feet of fun!
My daughter turned four the day after Christmas, and while she may be too young to recognize that it perhaps getting all your gifts for the year at one time may not be a great thing, she does notice when we celebrate her party “long” after her actual birthday. We’ve found that a decent number of places do not offer birthday parties between the Christmas/New Year’s week; such was not the case at KaZoom; we were able to celebrate the following weekend.
We had 10 children ranging in age from 1 year to 8 years old and a mix of boys and girls. They jumped in and out of the inflatables like a pack of wild animals. The place feels spacious, but small enough that they can all sort of run around and yet still be playing together. The inflatables are all in one large room, with a party space separated off to the side. There is also an open space in between the inflatables with several chairs and a little kids table, along with colorful blocks for the younger tots to play with. Compared to some of the larger indoor play spaces out there, we appreciated the fact that adults were able to sit and chat in one common space while still having a full view of our entire crew of kids bouncing from inflatable to inflatable.
Some of you may remember the place under by its previous name, Jumps and Downs. It changed ownership in October of 2017. In addition to the name change, they also remodeled, added new inflatables and expanded their play and party rooms.
As of January 2018, KaZoom offers 2 party options:
Standard Party – $75 + $7/child
Package includes 2 hours in the 700 square foot party room plus unlimited play time, table & chairs, tablecloths, paper plates, plastic cutlery, napkins. You choose the color theme (pink, blue, purple, orange, green). You can bring in whatever food and beverages you’d like, though alcoholic beverages are not allowed. Yes, candles are ok.
Private Party – $125 +$7/child

Of course you don’t need to have a birthday party to come visit. They’re open 5 days a week.

Regular Admission Fee is $7 plus tax per child. Parents and children under 1 year old are free with one paid admission.
Few important things to note:
- The center is designed for children under 10. For kids over 10, they are welcome as long as they’re with an adult and younger sibling. No admission fee is charged, but they cannot play in the bouncers in order to ensure the safety of the younger bouncers. There’s an exception, however, if you rent out the entire space.
- Socks are required to play in the playcenter. Socks are available for sale, if needed.
- KaZoom Playcenter is NOT a drop-off facility – every child must be accompanied by an adult. For birthdays, if parents want to drop their child off for the party that is fine, as long as the party host understands that they are responsible to supervise that child since the parent isn’t there.
- Each child must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
Bonus, you get a coupon for $1 off any coffee beverage at the cute little coffee shop next door, CTC Coffee Ta Cream. CTC offers not only great coffee, but also Sebastian Joe ice cream, quick eats like sandwiches and salads, and a very reasonably priced kids menu.
This may have been one of the coldest days of the year, but baby, inside the kids couldn’t care less! We’ll definitely be back.
